Marquise Knox – The Future of the Blues

There’s a young giant tearing up the blues scene by the name of Marquise Knox. Remember that name, you’ll be hearing it a lot more in the future. When you listen to Marquise, he hearkens back to the old Delta bluesmen. The bluesmen that sang full of emotion and gut wrenching storytelling. The odd thing is that Marquise is only 18 years old. It’s downright scary to see a young man belt out tunes in the vein of a seasoned blues performer.

New Release – Ali and Toumani

Ali and Toumani is the final collaboration of the legendary Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabate. It’s a follow up to their Grammy Award winning “In The Heart of The Moon”. Sadly, Farka Toure died shortly after the release. Nonetheless, before he passed away, he got together with Diabate and Cuban bassist extraordinaire, Orlando “Cachaito” Lopez to record one final time. Some of you might recognize Lopez from the magnificent Buena Vista Social Club albums. He too unfortunately passed away last year, making this album a very special one indeed.
